Sustainable Development Committee
In the face of global net-zero emissions and ESG sustainable development trends, National Cheng Kung University Hospital has proactively positioned itself with forward-looking thinking. Following the signing of the "Hospital Sustainable Development Initiative" with the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) at the end of 2024, the hospital officially established the Sustainable Development Committee at the beginning of 2025. The Committee comprises 19 members, with the Superintendent serving as the Chairperson, the Deputy Superintendent serving as the Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice Chairperson, and the Directors of the General Affairs Office and the Engineering Office serving as the Executive Directors and dedicated personnel, covering diverse fields to ensure comprehensiveness and professionalism in policy planning and implementation. Furthermore, a promotion office has been set up under the committee, which is divided by mission into six major task forces: Sustainable Governance Task Force, Excellence in Healthcare Task Force, Risk Response Task Force, Happy Workplace Task Force, Social Participation Task Force, Sustainable Environment Task Force. Through quarterly meetings, these task forces translate sustainability goals into concrete strategies and project plans, conducting deep analyses of governance, environmental, and social issues.
At the operational and implementation levels, the six working groups held a total of seven meetings in 2025 to ensure the stable implementation of various measures. Meanwhile, to strengthen sustainability capabilities, in early 2026, the Hospital selected 25 mid-to-senior level executives and colleagues, as well as partners from five collaborating medical institutions, to participate in an ESG Sustainability Manager Training Course.
