National Cheng Kung University Hospital (NCKUH) actively supports sustainable development and net-zero carbon emissions policies. In 2025, the hospital launched a green transportation initiative encouraging employees to use public bicycles for their daily commutes and was awarded YouBike’s “Organizational Group Carbon Reduction Achievement Certification.” The initiative achieved a cumulative annual carbon reduction of 2,674.8 kg CO₂e, demonstrating the tangible contribution of healthcare institutions to environmental protection.
The hospital stated that promoting low-carbon commuting not only effectively reduces transportation-related carbon emissions, but also contributes to employee health and quality of life. Through continued awareness campaigns and incentive measures, NCKUH encourages employees to make greater use of public bicycles, gradually integrating environmental awareness into their daily work and lives.
The results also demonstrate that changing commuting habits is one of the most effective ways to put carbon reduction into practice. Moving forward, NCKUH will continue to advance a diverse range of sustainability initiatives, integrating healthcare expertise with environmental responsibility and working toward a healthier, low-carbon future.
